The Hazard FD serves a population of approximately 7,000 full-time residents plus an additional 30,000 people during business hours.

Department Overview[]

The department has 46 firefighters; 17 full-time and 29 paid on-call. Seven of these are Paramedics, while 22 are Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT). HFD also has six State Fire Rescue Instructors and 11 certified in-house Fire Instructors.

History[]

The Hazard Fire Department was founded in 1884.
