The Hamden Fire Department serves the Town of Hamden, Connecticut. Like several fire departments in the immediate area, Hamden's firefighters are both career and volunteer. Hamden is a town of 60,000 located immediately north of New Haven. Hamden's target hazards include a heavily-commercialized Dixwell Avenue, Quinnipiac University, Sleeping Giant State Park, which is a common rope-rescue location, a portion of West Rock Ridge State Park, and the Wilbur Cross Parkway.
