Ongoing Plans[]
The Town of Grimsby entered into a 24-month pilot project with the Town of Lincoln in June 2021. The agreement will start with the integration of full-time executive, administrative, training, and fire prevention staff of Grimsby Fire Services with those of Lincoln Fire Rescue Service. If successful after the 24 months, the towns will consider a second phase which would fully integrate firefighting operations. The first phase commenced on October 1, 2021. If the merger goes ahead, the name of the new department will be Niagara West Fire & Emergency Services. The agreement was renewed in 2024 and a new fire department was created and a Joint Advisory Council (JAC) was established.
