The Greenville Fire Department serves the city limits of Greenville, which is approximately 23 square miles. It is a career fire department with supplemental volunteer and paid-per-call firefighters. GFD is comprised of the fire chief, 3 captains, and 18 shift personnel who rotate between three 24 hour on/48 hour off shifts. The Greenville Fire Department holds an ISO Class 3 rating as of Feb. 29, 2024.

Station 1 is staffed 24/7 by a crew of 3 firefighter/paramedics cross-staffing an engine and an ambulance, while Station 2 rotates between two 2-man shifts staffing an engine, and a 3-man shift staffing the department's ladder truck. The current fire chief of Greenville is Douglas Belletete (As of Feb. 26, 2024). The department responds to around 1,200 EMS and 400 fire related calls annually.
