Georgina Fire-Rescue

Department Profile

The Georgina Fire Department is a composite operation, employing a full-time Chief, two Deputy Fire Chiefs, FPO, Training Officer, two Inspectors and 44 firefighters, as wfell as 60 volunteers. Rescue Pumper 149 and Rescue Pumper 169 currently operate as staffed trucks. The department operates Marine 1 (MA140 on CAD) in the winter season from a Husky Airboat and Marine 2 (MA160 on CAD) as a 32' Stanley Fire-Rescue boat for open water.

History

The current Town of Georgina was formed in 1971 as part of the municipal restructuring that created York Region. The new fire department consisted of the original Georgina Township Fire Department in Pefferlaw, the North Gwillimbury Township Fire Department in Keswick and the Village of Sutton Fire Department.
