Freightliner is a manufacturer of medium and heavy duty trucks. Various models, most notably the 1990s era FL series and the 2000s era M2 series, have been frequently used as chassis for fire and emergency service vehicles. The M2 Business class debuted in 2002 as a replacement for the FL Series.

The M2 class was also available in severe-duty versions, the 106V and the 112V. Severe service variants used the same cabs but were based on a unique chassis. They were replaced in 2011 with the "SD" line.

The updated (2023 Model year) versions of the M2 business class are the 106 Plus and 112 Plus.
