Department Profile[]

The Frederick County Division of Fire and Rescue Services is a combination department comprised of volunteer personnel and career employees that are affiliated with 25 fire and rescue departments. Twenty-nine stations are located throughout the county with 22 housing a combination of career and volunteer personnel 24 hours a day. One volunteer station with career support 12 hours a day, 5 days a week and three stations that utilize 100% volunteer staffing. Frederick County is the largest county in Maryland covering 663 square miles; with over 600 paid full-time career firefighters and 300 volunteer firefighters in Frederick County.

Future Plans[]

At some point in the future, Rescue Squad 2, Rescue Engine 74, Rescue Squad 19, Rescue Engine 171, Rescue Squad 6, and Quint 28 will be deadlined and placed out of service at their end of life with no plans to replace them.
