History[]
The Franklin Township Fire Department was formed in the 1990's after the merger of Broadway Fire Department (New Jersey) and New Village Volunteer Fire Company. The Asbury Fire Company No. 1 joined in 2010.

The Franklin Township Fire Department is a volunteer department. The FTFD also provides emergency medical service on the BLS level.
