The Ford Motor Company (commonly referred to as "Ford") is an American automaker. Many fire departments utilize Ford light & medium duty truck chassis for mini pumpers, rescue trucks, brush trucks, and utility trucks; or SUVs and other cars for command units and chief vehicles. Some older model fire apparatus still utilize Ford's discontinued heavier-duty truck chassis, such as the Ford L-Series and the Ford C-Series.
