History[]

The Turkey Creek Volunteer Fire Department was organized in September 1974 and incorporated and chartered by the State of North Carolina. At that time the Sneads Ferry and Holly Ridge areas had established fire departments and were providing fire protection for the Turkey Creek, Folkstone, and Thomas Landing areas. After much discussion and concern by community members, it was decided to form a fire department for this community.

In May of 2013 after much discussion between Turkey Creek Volunteer Fire Department, Sneads Ferry Volunteer Fire Department, Sneads Ferry Volunteer Rescue Squad, Onslow County Commissioners, and the NC Office of State Fire Marshal a decision to merge the three volunteer agencies was made. This decision was, for all parties, in the best interest of the citizens, to provide the best option for fire protection and life-saving services. After the merger was made, the department re-incorporated itself under the new name of Turkey Creek Fire and Rescue.
