Department Profile[]

The Encinitas Fire Department staffs 6 fire stations daily with resources consisting of: 4 type 1 engines, 1 ladder truck, 1 type 6 patrol/medic squad, and 1 battalion command vehicle. Crews also cross staff one type 3 brush rig, The engines and truck are staffed with a captain, engineer, and fire fighter/paramedic, with the patrol staffed with two fire fighter/paramedics, and a battalion chief staffing the command vehicle. The Encinitas Fire Department operates with Del Mar Fire Department and Solana Beach Fire Department under a cooperative agreement to share fire department management functions[1]. The Encinitas Fire Department does not provide EMS and ambulance transport services as part of its mandate. Emergency medical service is provided by County Service Area No. 17 (San Dieguito Ambulance). All EMS and transport is provided under contract to the CSA by American Medical Response (AMR). [2]

Dispatch[]

The Encinitas Fire Department is a member of a regional fire and emergency services communication system called the North County Dispatch Joint Powers Authority, commonly referred to as "North Comm", located in Rancho Santa Fe, which provides dispatch services for 15 fire agencies in North San Diego County.
