History[]

Formerly known as the Township of Delta, the City of Delta comprises 3 main population areas- Ladner, North Delta, and Tsawwassen. The first organized fire protection was provided in 1915 by the Ladner Volunteer Fire Department, which was reorganized in 1930. In 1946, the North Delta Volunteer Fire Department was formed, and in 1948 the Beach Grove Volunteer Fire Department was formed to protect the Beach Grove, Boundary Bay, and Tsawwassen areas. In 1963, all 3 volunteer departments were disbanded and merged into the new Delta Fire Department. Today Delta Fire and Emergency Services protects 129 square miles of the municipality from 7 fire stations.
