History[]

From 1898 to 1965, Corona Hose Company Number 1 / the Corona Fire Department, was an all-volunteer department. In 1965 the change to a paid-part volunteer department occurred and then in 1972, the City implemented a full-time professional fire department. A significant period of department history was in the late 1960s and 1970s when the citizens of Corona voted on and passed a Grant measure to modernize the one station department to better protect our rapidly growing community.
