Department Profile[]

The City of Chilliwack Fire Department was founded June 29, 1906. The Township of Chilliwhack Fire Department, (spelled with the extra "h") also known as the Sardis Fire Department was a separate department founded in 1956. On January 1, 1980, the 2 departments merged to become the District of Chilliwack Fire Department. In 1999, the name changed to the City of Chilliwack Fire Department. The Chilliwack Fire Department covers 110 square miles with 6 stations and operates a composite department with 40 full-time and 135 paid-on-call firefighters. Engines 1 and 4 are staffed 24/7.
