South Africa is located on the southernmost tip of Africa. The country covers an area of 1,221,037 square kilometres or 470,900 square miles with a population of 62,027,503. The largest city is Johannesburg and it serves as the highest court. South Africa has 3 capitals: the Administrative Capital, Pretoria; Seat of Parliament, Cape Town; and Judicial Capital, Bloemfontein. The country is divided into 9 provinces, namely Eastern Cape, Free State, Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, North West, Northern Cape, and Western Cape. The most populous is Gauteng and the largest is Eastern Cape.
