Encompassing 629mi² of land and 503,311 residents as of 2020, Clark County, located in southwestern Washington, is the 3rd largest county in Washington by population and 38th largest by land area. Its county seat is the City of Vancouver.
History[]
Vancouver County was established on August 8, 1845, being renamed to "Clarke County" later that year upon establishment of Lewis County. Named for explorer William Clark, Clarke County's extraneous 'e' was removed in 1925, resulting in the present name of "Clark County".
