C-Max Transportation Equipment was a Canadian fire apparatus manufacturer located in St. Jacobs, Ontario.
History[]
Weber's Fabricating was formed in 1974 as a metal fabricator, building turkey loaders designed by founder Clare Weber. They moved to their present location in St. Jacobs in 1978 and expanded their business line to include fire inserts in 1980, dump truck bodies in 1985 and recycling truck bodies in 1989 respectively. The company changed its name to C-Max Transportation Equipment in 1990.
In 1988, Weber's Fabricating built their first fire truck, a tanker for the nearby Floradale Fire Department. From 1988 to 2001, C-Max built over 60 trucks for fire departments in Ontario. Production gradually wound down after the company became a service centre for Superior Emergency Vehicles, although a few trucks were built or refurbished in the 2000s.
Production[]
C-Max built around 65 pumpers, tankers and rescues, mostly on commercial chassis. Almost all deliveries were to departments in southwestern Ontario, plus a few in the central part of the province.
