
The Byron Jackson Company manufactured centrifugal pumps some of which were used for firefighting applications.
History[]
In 1872 Byron Jackson started a machine shop in Woodland, California to make agricultural tools and machinery. He moved the company to San Francisco in 1878 and developed deep well and submersible pumps.
In 1890 he patented his first centrifugal pump.
In 1913 the company began to develop centrifugal pumps for firefighting uses.
In 1915 the company moved to Berkeley, California.
In 1929 the company expanded into the oil field exploration and extraction market.
In 1955 the Borg Warner Corporation acquired the company. After relocating to Long Beach, California it continued to operate as the Byron Jackson Pump Division of Borg Warner.
In 1974 Borg Warner sold off the oil field side of the company which became BJ Services.
In 1987 Borg Warner split off its automotive branches into Borg-Warner Inc and everything else became Borg-Warner Industrial Products.
In 1997 Borg-Warner IP merged with Durco International forming Flowserve. Byron Jackson Pumps currently is a brand of industrial pumps under Flowserve.
