- As of October 2022, all volunteer operations (Station 1 and Station 5) were consolidated and now operate out of Fire Station 5 in Kilbride.
- All apparatus have been re-designated and re-numbered. Pumpers have become Engines, Quints are now Ladders, and Ladders are now Aerials.
- Spare suppression apparatus numbered in the 390 range.
- Maintenance vehicles numbered in the 380 range.
- Fire Prevention vehicles numbered in the 370 range.
- Training vehicles numbered in the 360 range.

In 1958, Burlington amalgamated with Nelson Township, merging Nelson Township Fire Department with the BFD.
