History[]
The Brockway Motor Company was a builder of heavy duty trucks. They operated in Cortland, New York from 1912 to 1977. The company was founded as the Brockway Carriage Works by William Brockway in 1875. In 1909, William's son George turned the the operation into a truck manufacturer.
The company built a few fire trucks as well as building the popular Brockway Torpedo chassis. Brockway confined itself to building chassis only after about 1920. The company was purchased by Mack Trucks Inc. in 1956 and remained a division of Mack until its closure in 1977.
