History[]
On October 9, 1974, the City of Bonney Lake began providing fire suppression services to Pierce County Fire Protection District No. 24 by contract.[1]
On November 2, 1999, voters approved the merger of Pierce County Fire Protection District No. 24 (Bonney Lake) into Pierce County Fire District 22 (Lake Tapps), and the annexation of the City of Bonney Lake into Fire District 22 with a combined 7,636 "yes" votes and 1,332 "no" votes across the 3 agencies.[2] All 3 agencies had previously consolidated together since 1995 under the current 'East Pierce Fire & Rescue' name.[3] The merger was effective on January 1, 2000.
