Avail

The Available Truck Company was a truck manufacturer located in Chicago, Illinois. Sales were largely limited to the local area and less than 3000 trucks would be completed between 1910 and 1957.

History[]

Initially the company only built 3/4 ton trucks, but by 1920 the range had expanded to include trucks of up to 7 tons capacity. The company added buses to its product line in the 1930s and by 1940 the company was offering 6x4 trucks with a capacity of 10 tons.

During World War 2 the company provided buses, wreckers and mobile cranes to the U.S. Military.

In the late 1940s, Available introduced a custom chassis which was used by several fire apparatus builders including General, Boyer and Oren.

The company was acquired by the Crane Carrier Company in 1957.
