Ansul Inc. is an American fire apparatus manufacturer located in Marinette, Wisconsin. It was called Ansul Chemical Company from 1915 to 1963, the Ansul Company from 1963 to 1981 and Ansul Fire Protection from 1981 to 1995.

History[]

Ansul was formed in 1915 and entered the fire protection field in 1934 with the introduction of fire suppression chemicals. In 1940, the company introduced the first cartridge-operated dry chemical fire extinguisher. Larger sets of dry chemical equipment was also produced for carts and vehicles, small and large.

In the early 1960s, Ansul developed its Twin Agent system, combining Purple K dry chemical and AFFF. By the early 1970s, the company was offering complete vehicles for airport and industrial firefighting under the Magnum name. Bodies were built by Marion Body Works Inc.

Ansul was acquired by Wormald International in 1978, and has been part of Tyco International since they acquired Wormald in 1990. Today, Ansul continues to make commercial fire protection systems and fire extinguishers. The Magnum is still on offer, as are dry chemical and Twin Agent systems in floor, trailer and skid-mounted versions.
