Overview[]
The Ankeny Fire Department (AFD) is a combination department providing fire suppression, rescue and EMS to the City of Ankeny and contract EMS to the nearby cities of Elkhart and Alleman. The department responds to over 5,000 calls for service annually, with around 76% being medical. The AFD is a member of the Saylorville Lake water task force alongside the Granger Fire Department, Johnston-Grimes Metropolitan Fire Department, and Polk City Fire Department.
