American LaFrance introduced the 1000 Series in 1970. It was essentially a high-end version of the 900 Series, featuring the most popular options as standard features.

History & Production[]

The 1000 Series had more chrome, polished stainless steel and aluminum brightwork. Diesel power was standard, but gasoline engines could be specified. The standard pump on the 1000 Series was a 2-stage 1000gpm pump, with 1250, 1500 and 2000gpm pumps as options. A 1000 Series closely resembles a 900 Series, except for the silver band across the front & above the bumper.

Production of the 1000 Series ended in 1974 following the introduction of the Century Series.
