Founder Gene Morris opened a welding shop in Alexis in 1945 and branched into fire apparatus in 1947. The company is still owned and operated by the Morris family.
Alexis builds pumpers, tankers and rescues, on both custom and commercial chassis. They've also rebuilt a number of older rigs.
