Formed in 1956, the Alberni Valley Rescue Squad (AVRS) is a search and rescue team based in Port Alberni, BC. The team consists of approximately 40 volunteers skilled and trained in search and rescue operations in a variety of disciplines, including rope and swift water rescue.
