History[]
The airport was established in 1943 as RCAF Abbotsford, then closed from 1952 to 1958. In 1958, ownership was transferred to the Department of Transport. The Airport was sold January 1, 1997 to the City of Abbotsford and renamed Abbotsford International Airport. ARFF services were contracted to ATCO from 2001 to 2010 and are now provided by J&M Airport Services.
