The 1871 is a custom chassis manufactured by HME Ahrens-Fox. The 1871 model, named for the year of the Great Chicago Fire, was originally introduced by Hendrickson Mobile Equipment.

After the closure of Grumman Emergency Products in 1991 (for which HME had supplied chassis, rebranded as the Panther), the 1871 was reborn. Several apparatus manufacturers use the chassis, and HME also builds complete custom apparatus using the 1871.

From 1996 to 2015, HME also provided the 1871 to Ferrara Fire Apparatus, where they rebadged it as their Intruder 2 model.
